Common Ant Species Found in Ventura Homes

Argentine Ants

Argentine ants are the most prevalent species in Ventura County. Carpenter Ants

Odorous house ants get their name from the distinctive smell they emit when crushed, often described as rotten coconut. They’re drawn to sweets and sugary foods and can establish nests in wall voids and under floors.

Fire Ants

Fire ants have a copper-colored head and a darker abdomen and nest in moist soil, often building mounded nests in lawns or near irrigation. Their sting delivers venom that causes a burning sensation and can trigger serious allergic reactions in sensitive individuals.

Reducing Ant Pressure Between Professional Treatments

Eliminate Moisture Sources

Seal Entry Points

Manage Landscaping Near the Foundation
