Termite Spot Treatments

Fumigation Alternatives

Orange Oil

Derived from the rind of the orange, this citrus oil (active ingredient: d-limonene) kills drywood termites and their eggs on contact. Orange oil will not only treat the areas into which it is injected, but will penetrate deep into the surrounding wood as
well. All that remains is the scent of oranges for a few days after treatment.

Bora-Care

Bora-Care is derived from boron, a material that is used in many household products such as “Borax Soap”. Bora-Care can be injected or applied directly to the wood. Its patented glycol formula penetrates deep into the wood. Unlike orange oil this product can be applied to hollow voids with use of a termite foamer and the residual of this product lasts indefinitely making it an excellent termite preventative treatment.

Termidor

Termidor is made from a new revolutionary technology that termites can’t see, smell, taste or avoid. Instead, they contact it, ingest it, and share it with their nest-mates. It’s superior to older liquid termite controls, which rely on repellent barriers that termites can too easily avoid.

When exposed to this product, termites become lethargic and stop feeding, which leads to the eventual elimination of the drywood termite colony. Termidor also has a lengthy residual effect to protect against re-infestation.

Application Process

  • Holes are drilled at the base of the wall to allow inspection of the wall void with a borescope.
  • After extent of infestation is determined, holes are drilled in a staggered pattern in infested wood.
  • Orange oil, Bora-Care or Termidor is injected into wood under low pressure.
  • Bora-Care is injected into hallow voids like shaving cream with a termite foamer and applied to unpainted wood in the attic, sub area and garage .
  • Remaining holes are then patched.

Advantages of Orange Oil, Bora-Care and Termidor

  • With these 3 products, there is no need to move out of your home or business.
  • There is no need to bag or remove your food items.
  • There is no potential plant or roof damage

Disadvantages

  • Several small holes may need to be drilled into the drywall and stucco and may require texture and painting.
  • Drywood termites will only be treated in the areas found during the initial inspection and additional areas found with use of the borescope.
  • Termites that are in inaccessible locations or hidden from view will not be treated.
